Flooding in the Parish – Newletter Amendment

To clarify the article on page 4 of the Newsletter, the Bookers Lane Flood Alleviation Scheme is not quite in its “final stage”.  After the completion of the Almodington Lane culvert crossing, it is planned that the Environment Agency will return in late April to complete the building of the channel in the field opposite the houses in Bookers Lane.  The very final stage will be when the County Council contractors return in the summer to build the Bookers Lane road culvert and ford, which will entail the closure of Bookers Lane for 8 to 10 weeks.  This will finally complete the project, which will mean a continuous waterway from Somerley, where the Earnley Rife starts, to the Medmerry outflow to the sea.

We plan to have a formal opening ceremony in the summer, to which you will be invited as well as our local councillors (parish, district and county) and the press.
